It was being sold back in the days when a Japanese name like “Yanagisawa” seemed foreign and the marketeers figured it would scare off potential buyers. That is far from the case now. Now, Japanese-made horns are esteemed as among the finest.
The serial number is 4701120. I wonder if this means it was made in 1970???
This horn is keyed up to Hi F#.
We replaced all the stack pads to get a better seal: D, E, F, F#, G#, G, A, Bb and C….as well as a few others.
Oct 27, 2010 The serial number chart that I linked to—besides cutting off around 2000—is only for Keilwerth’s pro model saxophones. The EX is of course JK’s intermediate model, and the Series III had its parts made by Keilwerth in Germany, and was assembled in the Czech Republic by Amati. I just ran into an eBay auction for an Amati Kraslice Toneking alto sax with serial number 25657. The registration card is still with the sax and indicates a production date of November 26, 1956. Info like this is a treasure when found so I didn't want this tidbit to be lost.
The lyre-holder was removed before I received the horn. You can see some denting where it used to reside.
The horn comes in a Yamaha-syle case.

Essential patti labelle rar. I have an Amati Kraslice Tenor Saxophone (serial number 179548) and a Trevor James The Horn Alto Saxophone (Serial Number: T01969)
I am trying to find out the background of my saxophones and when they were made. Also, in your professional opinion, what would they be worth today? I paid £295 for the alto in 1999, and £500 in 2000 for the tenor.I have had them for 16 years now and I am not intending to sell them anytime soon.
